Singer Shalmali Kholgade, known for her breakthrough song "Pareshaan" from the 2012 film Ishaqzaade, recently performed at a private concert in Bengaluru. In an exclusive interview with Bangalore Times, she expressed her love for performing live, stating her preference for the stage over the studio. She emphasized the collaborative nature of music and the importance of a dedicated team in shaping her shows, incorporating choreography and visuals to engage the audience.

Kholgade discussed her approach to social media, mentioning that she strives to maintain a balance by focusing on music and art rather than oversharing personal opinions. She highlighted the pivotal role of music director Amit Trivedi in launching her Bollywood career by offering her the opportunity to sing "Pareshaan," which led to her success in playback singing. Kholgade described the stage as her true domain, where she feels empowered and captivates the audience with her performance. My independent music is like my own creation, something I hold dear. Before focusing solely on my music career, I dabbled in various activities like performing with my college band, participating in clubs, and even being part of a Latvian cabaret while also recording jingles. Music has always been my passion, and I am dedicated to pursuing it. As my father, whom I affectionately refer to as baba, once told me, true education comes from experiencing different cultures through travel. Embracing this philosophy, I travel extensively, engage with diverse people, ask questions, and remain curious. I feel fortunate to lead a life filled with travel and music, which I believe is the best way to live. I have always aspired to explore all aspects of music, not only singing but also being involved in every step of the creative process leading to the final product. This comprehensive involvement resonates with my love for music and represents an extension of my artistic expression. Shalmali Kholgade stated, "I consider AI to be extremely intimidating."

Recently, I collaborated with Nikhil D'Souza on a song titled "Tu Hai," which I released on a streaming platform. The following day, I noticed another track titled "Tu Hi Tu Hai" featuring my name as the female singer, even though I had not recorded such a song. It seemed like an AI-generated track, possibly intended to divert streams from my original song. The incident left me feeling unsettled and apprehensive.
